CHANNEL ONE - PARIS 11.02.05

CHANNEL ONE & CULTURAL WARRIORS - 11.02.05
PARIS DUB CLUB PART 3 - CABARET SAUVAGE

Cabaret Sauvage opened its doors by 10 PM and like previous Paris Dub Club sessions, Blackboard Jungle Sound System (Nico at the control and Sandy & Oliver at singing) started the night with a one hour revival set spiced by some dubplates. The Roots and Culture Night is launched..
Around 11, Cultural Warriors Sound System ( Lionpaw at the selections & entertainment, Dubsoljah at the controls) took on the control of Cabaret Sauvage for their first time in Paris. Their set lasted around one hour also with pure collectors (we can mention Jah Golden Pen - Sylford Walker, Rastafari Tell You - Judah Eskender Tafari, No Wicked Can't Reign - Ripton Hilton aka Eek A Mouse, Jah Creation - Creole, Natty Don't Go - Cornell Campbell and Gates Of Zion by Mighty Diamonds)  with also some big dubplates from Freddie McGreggor on a organ instrumental made in Studio One, also a version of Rainbow Circle Throne - Jah Mason with a superbe a capella as intro. Lionpaw to end that first set an unreleased Vibronics cut on the Anointed One riddim - Jah Manya entitled « Praise Him », and some specials on it by King Kong and the unmissable Lutan Fyah.
Lionpaw’s entertainment remains that same powerfull and communicative as usually, and Dubsoljah’s sound fx’s add another dimension to the tunes, the massives really apprecieloved...

Around midnite, Cultural Warriors passed again the control unto Blacboard Jungle Sound System...Their second set started with Disciples latest productions (Come Together & Unite - Christine Miller followed by Selassie I Vision - Ras MacBean) and went on further with some more UK selections (Armageddon - Abassani, True Born African - U Roy & Sister Audrey to mention only a few) and some serious dubplates (including a terrible Munky Lee Xclusive dub mix of Roots From The Rocks Dub).
As everytime, Blackboard Jungle Sound System enchanted the Cabaret Sauvage’s crowd with the quality of their dubplates and singers (special mention for Sandy who ended up a tune with a tremendous acapella that got the crowd wild).

By 1 AM, the Swiss Roots Ambassadors are back... and start their second set with Great Tribulation - Hugh Mundell and then Lionpaw steps directly with ruff dubplates : Sandeeno (Universal Roots recut of Great Tribulations), Prince Alla (big tune especially recorded for that night ina Lionpaw Studio), Nerious Joseph « Live Good » (Zion Gate), Anthony B (Addis), Lutan Fyah (Irie Ites), ADF (the Apocalypse Dub played by Jah Tubby's in one of the earlier University of Dub) and Lyrical Benjie on special over the Dub Fire riddim by Vibronics...full of vibes
Murry Man (Cultural Warriors' official singjay), reached in the show singing on any riddim his tunes like Tell Me What a Gwaan, Warn Dem, Get Up Stand Up...Lionpaw enchanted the public by presenting his upcoming new Kings riddim (one of his future riddims) with a special I love King Selassie by Mykal Rose mixed at Lionpaw Studio, that got one of the biggest forwards of the night. That part ended up with one of the anthem tunes of this Sound System : Vibes Man A Build - Jah Cure followed by its Disciples Custom Xclusive dub mix...
Very achieved first Paris session for the Cultural Warriors Sound System...On the powerfull Blackboard Jungle Sound System, the trio formed of Lionpaw, Dubsoljah & Murry Man ( see photo 12) were in full effects : the public, enjoyed as much Murry man (that really mashed it broad) than by the crucial selections...

Around 2.30 AM, Channel One Sound System (Mikey Dread operator/selector & Ras Kayleb MC/singjay) reaches in that Paris Dub Club...They start with Selassie Is The Chapel - Bob Marley (see photo 1) and then Mikey Dread goes along a while with various selections including Row Fisherman - Chronicle, Don't Want To Be No General - Dennis Brown, Wisdom Of Salomon - Roman Stewart, Zion City - Earl Sixteen or also Praise Ye Jah - Sizzla (which like in the Shaka session got a terrible forward). After only one hour show, Mikey Dread opens the dubplates boxes : a terrible version of Famine - Junior Delgado, an unreleased mix of Old Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear and also their first dubplate : One Step Forward de Max Romeo. Between those cuts, Channel One continues regular tunes from the likes of Rainbow Circle Throne - Jah Mason, Weapon Of Mass Destruction - Pablo Gad,God About Everything - Anthony B or Don’t Let Us Have To Suffer - Twinkle Brothers. The session ends up around 10 to 6 with an antepenultimate dubplate…

Channel One Sound System deserves a lot of respect for the quality of their selections (regular as dubplate) and their effects (those sirens are really unique). The energy displayed by Ras Kayleb & Mikey Dread kept the crowd in attention til dawn… Its been 25 ans that Channel One travel the world with their roots & culture message and it was a pure enjoyment to be there…
Rendez-vous for april 22nd for Paris Dub Club 4 with King Shiloh Sound System from Amsterdam  and their 24kw power sound system… Thanks again to Jérôme, Antoine  of Dik Musique, Isabelle of Salammbô and all artists present at Paris Dub Club 3…nuff respect !
