Channel One Sound System

"Channel One is a sound system which originated from Jamaica over 25 years ago and has been at the fore front of Roots Rock Reggae music ever since. Taking the music to many countries across Europe and recently to Israel. Over the years we have performed with some of the best musicians in the world eg Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, Prince Buster and Aswad. We carry our own custom built sound system in a 7.5 ton lorry, which consist of nearly 20,000 watts of power. Using our sound system in a dance or club makes it feel that you are attending a reggae gig other than using the in house pa system, which makes more sense when you are playing heavyweight Roots and Culture and Dub music. Having played at the Notting Hill Carnival for 17 years Channel One has brought the sound of Roots and Culture and Dub music to an international level. This type of music has never been heard in clubs and venues across the world. We have inspired other sound systems to be built across the Roots scene in countries such as France, Germany, Belgium and Sweden. We were the first sound system to play in the Republic of Ireland at the universities of Dublin and Galway. The member of Channel One are Jah T (Manager), Miky Dread (Selector/Operator) and Ras Kayleb (DJ). The importance of Channel One sound system is to bring the message of Jah Rastafari funnelled through the Kings music, and to enhance the knowledge and power Channel One holds which gains respect all over the world."
